Latest research methods such as textual criticism, were very influential in suggesting that the Apostle John, John the Evangelist and John of Patmos were three different individuals. Differences in style and theological content of familiarity with the Greek of the Gospel of John, the epistles of John and Revelation are seen by some researchers as indicating three different authors.
